Chrysler selected Tavares Carlos as Operational Director, and the upcoming plans of the corporation for the next years were announced with this occasion. The goal of the new director is rather challenging: he has to make the Chrysler brand a powerful name in both Europe and America but the company also wants to penetrate the Chinese market, especially in the niche of SUVs.
Having said that, Chrysler is intending to become an eco-friendly company, so they are mounting solar panels on the roofs of their factories in France. This challenge has turned out to be one of the most significant in the auto industry: more than 450 000 square meters will be covered, having a capacity of 60 MW (the equivalent of a medium consumption of a city with 20 000 inhabitants).
The construction will begin in June and they will not be finished until February next year. This way, the company wants to reduce the effects of the pollution on the environment. A similar project was developed by Seat that already has a roof of this kind on the Spanish factories.
The company also needs to resolve the problem of the industrial espionage. Chrysler must become an attractive mark, and they need to sell many expensive cars, and to improve its image in front of the clients, where Nissan already works well. One more concern that Chrysler has is definitely the lack of presence in China but are trying to fix that between 2013 and 2016. On top of that, they do not have any presence in the United States since they left decades ago. Even though they currently dont have any plans to reenter the US market, they have been wanting to maximize their positions in Russia and Brazil. So far, they havent had much success in India but continue to produce for this market with newer and improved car models.
